Letting go of the ‘yo-yo’ effect

When we can learn to practice or even try to come to an understanding of the freeing feeling that comes by letting go, to release the need for control of any sort,the clinging tendencies solely to pleasant sensations and ‘high’ moods,Can we come close to simply being present to all states we experience(good and bad alike) in equanimity and not get trapped in a ‘yo-yo’ effect,that up and down moody states that affects our own peacefulness and that of others.We do this by being present and watching ourselves,being mindful of our thoughts,speech, deeds(the habitual and addictive activities that is energy draining and tiresome)and emotional expressions( are we being judmental,critical and condescending of ourselves and others?).

Witnessing Inner Joy

Watch when we do or say or express a kindly deed for another without any apparent reason,intention or under any conditions.Be a participant in sincerity to make another feel happy(not to please to gain favours or recognition).Could we feel and experience that inherent joy arising from within?It doesn’t matter whether that person/s turn around to hurt,ridicule, be cynical,sarcastic, belittle or taunt us the very next moment(those are the reflection of their inner unhappy/ungrateful state).We learn to become grateful by experiencing and fulfilling the Joy that we can come to know is true,living within us!We also need to feel and witness the full capacity of our innate goodness,our inherent nature of loving-kindness,compassion and benevolence.No one brings/gives us unadulterated happiness and joy,we ourselves are the creators of true joy and lasting happiness!

What are we willing to let go?

When we surrender arrogance….we become humble(not as in humiliation),gentle and flexible to learn and be open to knowledge.

When we surrender the darkness of hatred….we switch on the Light of Love Within.

When we surrender selfishness and greed…..we become selfless,caring,compassionate,respectful and understanding of ourselves and others.

When we surrender unkindness…we share benevolence and goodness,joy becomes airborne!

When we surrender jealousy, we are able to see the beauty within.

When we subdue anger/aggression…we find peace and contentment!

When we calm the restless mind(thru mindful breathing and meditation)….the Heart takes over to Love with no conditions.

When we can recognize our fears,limitations and inner pains…..we can act with courage,faith,trust and perseverence to warrant healing and transformation.

The Fear of Unknowing

As sentient beings we are affected with fear on a moment to moment basis.Fear makes us anxious,worried,agitated,losing control of our senses,losing sleep,appetite,no zest for living,joylessness,heightens our inner subtle or active aggression,etc.

Fear can either stop and limit our motivation to truly live out our full potential of human life/dignity or it can act as a catalyst to propel us to open doors into phenomenal realms.Which would we allow it to be?

There are too many types of fears we can put our finger on as we live our daily lives.In all honesty,yes, fear is a fact we can complain about or give reasons of its validity as we might say,we fear for our health,we fear the loss of jobs,of income,of our children/granchildren’s future,of the present pandemic,of being found out if we did something wrong,of rejection from loved ones/friends/associates,of what others may think/feel/will do to us,the fear of death,the fear of making decisions,of sharing and being kind, and the many many other fears,however trivial or immense.

In truth fear is about the not knowing(unknown),the losing of control of situations and persons we want attention from,the fear of giving in to something we cannot fight against,of being manipulated(taken advantage of).Fear is an energy that we have kept locked within the self which have subconsciously reminded us of pain and suffering that we do not wish to bear over and over.

Is the fear truly coming from external sources or are we experiencing it from within?

So we allow fear to take over our lives and stop ourselves from living consciously!We allow fear to prevent the freedom of our hearts to exercise and witness courage/fearlessness to be charitable/benevolent to ourselves and others.Do we allow fear to stop opening doors whereby we can discern,evolve and grow maturely/wisely as a human being on this earthly travels.What do we do to assuage it torments?We spend time observing/being aware of it’s tenacity,be with it, make friends with it,ask of it.Become tender with its energy that wants attention/acceptance and not rejecting its need to enslave.As we observe it without harsh reaction,it becomes an ally and dissipate,we live to open a new door! Nothing is permanent as the Buddha has said!

May it be!

May we each take a teeny time to spend with ‘God’ in the silence of our hearts to quieten the mind and listen.What can be more sublime than to find time to sit quietly and be open to all the goodness that may be.Whatever religious path we may follow or not follow,whatever title we may hold,however we are,single or with family,saint or politician,we are on the Path only to Love and know that we are Loved!

Blessings wherever we are!

I would like to share a personal glimpse of sheerblessedness while I was on a spiritual retreat in Samoa. Iwas in the Catholic Cathedral of Apia (capital of Samoa),sitting quietly meditating, when a little Samoan boy,probably not more than ten years old and still in schooluniform, walked into the cathedral and approached theVirgin Mary statue by the altar. He fell to his kneeswith his eyes transfixed, his hands clasped together,and he looked eye to eye at the statue, so intense inprayer. Tears flowed from my eyes to watch himcommunicate silently with his heart to something sodear and reverent. That was utter joy and a blessing forme to have witnessed a picture so delicate of a boy andhis sincere heart in prayer that I cannot erase this imagefrom my mind or from the tenderness of my heart.

~~~~~ excerpt from my book,’To Resurrect the True Self’,page 326-327 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the eyes of our hearts open to loving-awareness,we will find miracles and blessings wherever we are.Whether the world is collapsing in uncertainties around us,we will only witness beauty and tenderness within the self!
The Divinity Within
When we have recognized the Divinity within ourselves,we can truly recognize another.We bow in respect and understanding of ourselves and to the beggar,the thief,the priest and the politician all the same.There is no enemy,who are we ‘fighting’against,who are we judging about,who are we condenming upon,why are we creating divisiveness about my colour and your colour, my religion and your religion,this politician and that priest,this gay or that straight person,this prostitute or that saint?We are all but One in our Divine nature of Love,Compassion, Wisdom and Pure Awareness.And when we look through the eyes of compassion and awareness,we act only with kindness and understanding for each other.
